I did follow-up on the Strange Horizons thing, and went through stage 2 of the process, which was basically reading and rating a selection of the slush pile. I'm waiting to hear back what comes next, but it's still something I want to do because it gives me a really good feel for the range of things being submitted (both in terms of quality and in terms of style and subject matter). Reading for possible publication (or at least, passing along to the editors) makes me read differently than reading for pleasure. So, fingers are still crossed. I'll probably announce that here too, if it comes through.
