Luggage Ahoy
May. 18th, 2003 06:33 pmThe luggage came through today, but not til noon so I had to switch plans around a bit. Went to the Hill of Tara and puttered around. Chatted with the local Tara expert for a while and got invited to go around with the local historical society when he gives them a tour on Tuesday. He's great, and the folk/anthropologist in me is giddy with the idea of "consultant". He owns the bookstore, cafe and souveneir shop at the bottom of the hill, and wrote several books on the subject, plus a documentary, all of which I picked up.
I should have budgeted more money for this trip.
They had a candy machine there that was filled with shiny stones (malachite, cats eye, etc). Put in a quarter and get a rock. There was a sign on the machine informing people that the stuff inside was rocks, not candy. I had an amusing moment picturing some kid biting down on a bloodstone. Heh.
The Changeling game is happening today. Check-in should be starting soon. I feel very odd not being there. I was going to send sunshine Bloomington's way for the game, but it's been raining off and on all day. I did get to see my first Irish rainbow as I was leaving Tara. I hope you guys all have a good game. I want to hear all about it. Be nice to any strange fae that show up. Oh, and I hope you all enjoy the snow cones and dragon rides ;>
I guess that's it for now. Tomorrow I'm going to hit Dublin Proper properly. There's a ghost tour that I might see if I can get onto tonight. If not, tomorrow night. I love ghost tours. They're the best. Someday I'm going to do a book on them.
