Just a reminder for today's event:

New Year Event: What Jane Austen Wore: A Pride and Prejudice Sewing Circle
Host: Alyc
Location: The Foxpad (912 S. Madison St.)
Time: Thursday, 10:00am to 6:00pm

Today the Foxpad will be hosting a Concordia Game/Pride and Prejudice viewing
sewing circle for anyone interested in either subject. The table and dining
room area will be converted into sewing central (with advice and help for those
who wish it), while the absolutely amazing BBC production of Pride and Prejudice
will be playing in the living room. Marvel at Jennifer Ehle's "very fine eyes",
swoon over Colin Firth's portrayal of Mr. Darcy (a portrayal that not only
inspired the character in Bridget Jones' Diary, but also snagged him the casting
in that same movie). Delight in Austen's wit and allow it to soothe away all
hair-tearing tendencies caused by sewing your creation to your clothes for the
third time.

Following the 5 hour P&P sewing fest there will be a sewing-barred cool down
period where we will watch the wonderful post-colonial adaptation Bride and
Prejudice. Chuckle at a Hollywood interpretation of Bollywood. Debate whether
the scene on Santa Monica Beach is the funniest scene ever, or just strange.
See the sexy Naveen Andrews (Sayid from Lost) as Balraj Bingley, the Indian MC
Hammer.

Tea and scones will be provided, celebrating Britain's long and complicated
colonial relationship with India, food will probably be ordered at some point.

Hope to see you there!!
