I am an Aunt!

My little baby brother has a baby.

I remember when they brought Sean home from the hospital. I remember running from the bedroom where he was sleeping to the kitchen in the Gardena house, in order to give my mom updates on whether his eyes were open or closed. I remember when those eyes were blue. Even when I look at Sean now, for some reason I can never quite see him as older than 11. Watching him get married felt...strange. A little pedophilic, because...well, he's my *baby* brother.

And now he's a Dad.

And I'm an Aunt.

Weird.

Please welcome my nephew Spencer into the world (he's HUGE! Poor Melinda.).

I know what you mean about seeing your brother always as 11. I still see mine as six or so, carrying around a tattered green "woobie," and he's 19 now.

Are you going to be one of those aunts who spoil their nephews/nieces rotten? teach them inappropriate jokes? tell embarrassing stories about their parents? thrill them stories of wild adventures and travels? take them to museums? help them bake cakes? build kites? construct forts out of blankets and chairs? There are so many possibilities. Aunts/uncles are the best.
