Reflections on a Debauchery
Aug. 17th, 2003 03:04 pmThis is an edited version of the report on Drinking: The Debauchery that I sent to ancientwisdom.
First off, I have to say that it's very interesting being at a party that is jokingly hailed as a "larp" and is comprised mainly of changeling players. People kept coming up to me and asking me organizational details regarding the party, like if there were any extra towels and where were the trash bags and did I know this, that or the other thing. I kept explaining that I wasn't the Storyteller (or the host) for this particular "Larp", and that I had no more idea than they did ;>
So, lots of good fun early in the evening. I am very proud to announce that in the Great Cream Pie War the score is now Foxes: 2.5, Coyotes: 0. I picked up a coconut cream pie on the way to the party and hid it in the kitchen. I told a few people (names witheld to protect them) what was up, and asked them to be on alert to run distraction. About an hour or so into the party, the kitchen was full of people who were toasting ninjaturbo. Coyotewatches was nearby, so I got the pie out to do him, but he kept on leaving the kitchen. Luckily, Gregg had my back and asked if I wanted help. He called Coyotewatches over to join in the toasting, and stood between us so Coyotewatches couldn't see the pie. When Coyotewatches turned to get something from the fridge, I came from behind and got him full in the face, with pretty much most of the party (which was getting into full swing by then) as spectators. I ran around the room and did my kitsune victory dance. It was truly a thing of beauty.
Yeah, baby. Count the tails!
(this is my new badass kitsune catchphrase. Like Tony with his "Pow" and "This guy". Count the tails!)
So, Odanuki did two sets of spinning, and he was *really* good. Lots of fun to dance to. At the end of his first set he used a sample of "Dreaming", which was pretty damn cool. Then the drum circle started, which was The Guy with the Beard (whose name I don't know), Coyotewatches, Gollumgollum, Drydem, Bneuensc, and myself, with other people on maracas and glass bottles and the like. I think I'm getting better at drumming, although obviously nowhere near the caliber of Coyotewatches, Gollumgollum or Beard Guy. It was pretty jamming.
So, apparently the Gift of Pan was well invoked, because by this time the party was degenerating into its debauchery phase. Ozziel decided that he needed to kiss every girl there. Princess706 decided to prove that she was more man than Ozziel and needed to do likewise. I know that Ozziel succeeded, but I don't know if Princess706 did, although I obliged them both with a kiss. It then occurred to me that as Ozziel's friend, and as a person who looks after her friends, such a kissing spree should be recorded for posterity, so I grabbed him and my camera and had him recreate all his kisses. It's a pretty good set of pictures, and it meant that Oz got to kiss everyone again (except Pythia_akrypta. Ryan would only let Ozziel kiss her once, so Ozziel had to settle on kissing her feet for the picture). Later, Ozziel decided to kiss every guy there as well, but I only got a few pictures of that.
I got lots of other pictures of the debauchery, although I'll be editing them for content. I'm going to put up an easter-egg somewhere on the site that we can tell our players about, so that they can go look at the pics without them being available for public consumption.
Most of this time, Ellegua was lying on the pavement outside having an argument with both gravity and sobriety, but eventually he was able to negotiate uprightness, and grabbed me for a walk. It was a pretty good two-hour-or-so conversation.
Because of this conversation I missed the party wind-down, which disappointed me a little because I love watching parties wind down. It's the anthropologist in me, I think.
On some observations of individuals:
Coyotewatches had a great time (oh, I guess I kissed him too, or rather, he kissed me after the pie thing. Other than that, I restricted my kissing to the Changeling ST staff), and the drumming was awesome. I understand there's talk of forming a percussion group, so yay.
Odanuki rocked with the spinning. This was apparently his first public performance. We have agreed that we need to do a road-trip to Boston when he spins at his first Rave.
Tony said it was the best party ever, "pow", "this guy".
Princess706 was remarkably sober for the party, though that in no way stopped her participation in the debauchery. She mentioned the next morning that she really liked the experience of not waking up hung over, of not puking, of not feeling like ass, and of being able to remember the debauchery of the evening before, and says she might do it again.
Although I didn't get to see much of her, I think Laurelwen had an awesome time. She kept grinning and saying it was a real satyr party. Many people chewed on her much more accessible neck.
Despite our attempts, Bneuensc remained sober, which was a good thing since Kyle (who didn't drink that much, which means he probably just drank something that violently disagreed with him) got horrendously ill and spend most of the evening in the corner clutching an orange trick-or-treat bucket. Poor guy.
Ancientwisdom was sorely missed, and Ozziel wants to kiss him when he returns.
There was spinning, though again Ancientwisdom was missed. We started Bneuensc's friend Adrienne on her first glowsticks, and she was doing a pretty good job for a first-timer. It's too bad she lives in Texas, cause I think she'd be a fun addition to our circle.
Pythia_akrypta spent a good chunk of the evening in a rather skimpy bathing suit being led around by Ryan on a plastic chain around her neck. She was pretty damn hot. Come to think of it, they left rather early...
Hmm...I think that's the highlights as I remember them. All in all, a truly fabulous and fun debauchery. I had a great time, took lots of pictures, and missed Ancientwisdom terribly.
Oh, and Ozziel lost his pants, but then, we expected no less.

I feel that way about some other people, too. ;)
