Stomach Ruminations
Jan. 15th, 2004 07:59 amYour mind does weird things when you're up at 3:00 in the morning but really only half awake, wondering if you've got food poisoning or not.
So, there I was on the bathroom floor, marveling at how good the chill of it felt after the hot sweaty flashes I was having in bed. My stomach is gurgling a little bit less as a result (I think cold bathroom floors are as much an aid in this type of recovery as the actual expelling of the poison coursing through your body). And I start thinking about how my upset stomach is like many CGI effects (especially CGI fighting). Here it is doing all these fancy loops and rolls and gurgles and things that no stomach should do, but rather than being cool, it's just irritating and a little nauseating. I can't help thinking that I like the old-school effects, y'know, where the stomach just digests things, and it's not about showing off all the fancy things you can do with enough money and technology.
Ten minutes I spent thinking about my CGI stomach.
Finally, my stomach calmed down (it was the cold floor, man. A much more comfortable remedy than puking) and I wandered back to bed, thinking that my whole CGI stomach idea was really pretty cool, and that I should post on it in the morning. Upon reflection (and waking up properly), I'm thinking that maybe I need to check out the things I ruminate on a little more carefully before I decide they're cool (heh). Still, my ruminations did leave me with something of comedic value, so I figured I'd share them for those interesed.

Date: 2004-01-15 02:17 pm (UTC)I didn't think I was going to die that night, but I kind of wanted to, just to get the nausea and pain over with. I don't know if I got a bad mussel along with Feather, or if it was just too much Coke on not nearly enough food, but OW.

Date: 2004-01-15 03:34 pm (UTC)It's a well-known fact that my digestive system hates me with a fiery passion, and goes out of it's way to give me all sorts of nice surprises along the way.
So yeah...CGI stomachs bad. Old school stomachs good.
Old adage about CGI (or new, cause I just made it up):
Wanna make a man look like he's on fire? Set him on fire.
*evil grin*
